The Escape to EGYPT 

After the wise men had gone on their Way, Joseph had a dream as he was sleeping. An angel from the Lord came to him and said, Herod is looking for your child and wants to kill him Get up Hurry and take the child and his mother to Egypt.  Joseph got up right away. He took Jesus and Mary to Egypt that very right. When Herod found out the had tricked him he got very He sent his men to Bethlehem With order To kill every boy who years old or younger. Many families lost their precious sons because of the cruel and Jealous king. By then Jesus was safe in Egypt with his parents. They stayed there until Herod was and wife home. They went back to Nazareth in the Land of Galilee.

Wise men from the East 

Herod had been named king of Israel by the Roman emperor Caesar Augustus. Herod lived near the city of Jerusalem. After Jesus was born some wise men from the east came to see Herod. They asked him Where is the child who was born to  be King of the Jews we saw a new star in the east.That means a great new leader come into the world. We have come to worship. Herod was amazed Could this be the one the prophet Micah had told about Micah had said that this leader would be born in Bethlehem. Bethlehem was only six miles from Jerusalem. Now Herod was afraid of this newborn king. But he pretended to be glad He said to the wise men. Go to Bethlehem And  search For the child there. If you find him let me know I want to go and worship him too. The wise men set out The star they had seen  In The east went on ahead of them. Finally it stepped over a house in Bethlehem. The men went into the house and saw the child with Mary. They got down on their Knees and worshipped  him. They gave him special gifts they had brought with them precious gold and the sweet and strong smelling  spices of frankincense and Myrrh. Later the wise men had a dream that told them not to go back to Herod. They went home by another road.

Jesus is blessed  

Six weeks after Jesus was born in Bethlehem Mary and Joseph took him to the city of Jerusalem. They had to take him to the Temple for a special ceremony. They would promise to bring up Jesus to serve God. At the temple an old man came up to them. His name was Simeon. God had told Simon he would see the Savior before he died. A spirit had sent Simeon to the Temple that day. When he saw the baby Jesus he took him in his arms and blessed him. Then he said to Mary This child of yours will cause many people in Israel to fall and others to stand. Mary and Joseph were surprised to hear what Simeon had said, they did not understand it. There was also an old woman named Anne in the Temple. She prayed there night and day. She too came to see the baby. She praised God for sending him. She told everyone that the baby  would do great thing for all the people of Jerusalem.

The Shepherds  

On this night there were shepherds watching their sheep in the fields near Bethlehem. An angel came down to them from the Lord. The brightness of the Lord’s glory shined around them. The shepherds fell to their knees and put their Hands over their eyes. They were very frightened. But the angel said, Don’t afraid I have good news for you which will make everyone happy. This very day in the city of David a Savior was born for you. He is Christ the Lord. You will know who he is because you will find him lying on a bed of hay. Suddenly many other angels came down from Heaven. They said, Praise God in Heaven Peace on earth to everyone who pleases God. The shepherds went to Bethlehem. They found Jesus lying on a bed of hay in a manger. They told Mary and Joseph what the angels had said about their son. Mary thought about this. She  wondered what it meant. As the shepherds went back to their sheep they could not stop talking about  the baby and praising God. 

Jesus is born 

It was almost time For Mary’s baby to be born. But he would not be born in Nazareth. Israel Was part of the Roman empire. The Roman leader was the Emperor Caesar Augustus. He wanted all the people in the empire to pay taxes to Rome. But first everyone had to go their own hometown to be counted. Mary’s husband Joseph had to go to Bethlehem in  Judea Bethlehem had been King David’s home and Joseph was from  David’s Family. It was a long journey After three days Joseph and Mary came to the city of David but there was nowhere for them to stay. Finally a kindly innkeeper allowed them to stay in his barn. And there in a barn in Bethlehem Jesus was born. Mary laid him on a bed of hay in a manger.

The birth of Jesus 

Luke 2:1-7 At that time Emperor AugASstus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Roman Empire. When this first census took place.  Quirinius was the governor of Syria. Everyone then went to register himself each to his own hometown. Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to there town of place of King David went there Bethlehem in Judea the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there because he was a register with Mary who was promised in marriage to him. She was pregnant and while they were in Bethlehem the time came for her to have her baby. She gave birth to her first son wrapped him  in cloths and laid him in a manger there was no room for them to stay in the inn.
